RESUMO O pensamento iluminista defendia que a ciência e as artes proporcionaram o desenvolvimento da razão e a melhoria dos costumes. A posição contrária, tomada pelo filósofo Jean-Jacques Rousseau, rendeu-lhe o prêmio da Academia de Dijon e o fez, depois da publicação de outras obras, um defensor da natureza e do homem natural. Diante da depravação dos costumes, o autor promove a própria cultura como remédio, haja vista que não se pode voltar ao estado de natureza. O conjunto de sua (...) obra pode, dessa forma, ser considerado como uma tentativa audaciosa de Rousseau em utilizar-se das belas letras como um remédio contra os males da civilização, principalmente o afastamento do homem para com a natureza. ABSTRACT The Enlightenment philosophers argued that science and the arts provided the development and improvement of the customs. The contrary position taken by Jean-Jacques Rousseau produced a great impact so that he received the Dijon Academy Award and was made - after the publication of other works - a defender of nature and of the natural man. Considering the depravity of manners, the author promotes the culture itself as a remedy, as no one can return to the state of nature. All his writings together can, thus, be seen as a bold attempt to use up the arts as a remedy against the evil of civilization, mainly the withdrawal of man from nature. (shrink)

RESUMO:No intercurso das relações sociais, o homem passa da representação dos objetos para a representação de si mesmo. Pelo relato do Segundo discurso, a ordem social fez dos acontecimentos um espetáculo enganoso porque, em vez de unir as pessoas, acabou por separá-las, interpondo o fenômeno, o parecer. Se o mundo se tornou, dessa forma, pura representação e a vida, uma encenação, a melhor máscara a ser colocada é a de um homem civil, e o papel a ser desenvolvido é o (...) de um homem virtuoso, que tudo faz pela coletividade. A saída parece ser educacional, visto que o Emílio traz um projeto de formação humana que usa da representação de forma bem intencionada, já que não gera o espetáculo, a pompa e nem a usurpação. Tal situação pode ser entendida como o emprego da arte em benefício da moral, emprego da ficção, da brincadeira, do jogo e da imaginação em favor de uma ação cuja arte seja a de operar a restauração da natureza no homem e prepará-lo para o melhor convívio com seus semelhantes. Emílio é exercitado contra o sortilégio do jogo representativo e colocado em relação direta com a realidade, isto é, com a natureza e com as condições mais aproximadas do estado natural. Daí a valorização da vida campesina com suas festividades como ponto de partida de sua educação, a qual termina no pleno turbilhão social, tirando proveito inclusive dos espetáculos. ABSTRACT:In the course of social relations, man passes from the representation of objects to the representation of himself. According to the Second Discourse, the social order makes a deceptive spectacle of occurrences; instead of uniting people, it ends up separating them, interposing phenomena or appearance. If in this way the world has become pure representation, and life a performance, the best mask to be put on is that of a civil man, and the best role to be developed is that of a virtuous man who does everything for the collective. The way out seems to be through education, given that in Émile Rousseau expounds a project of human formation that uses representation in a well-intentioned manner, as it does not generate spectacle, pomp, or usurpation. Such a situation can be understood as the employment of art for the benefit of morals, and the use of fiction, play, games, and the imagination, in favor of an action whose art is that of affecting the restoration of nature in man and preparing him for fellowship with those like him. Emile is taught to resist the spell of the representative game. He is also placed in direct relationship with reality, that is, with nature and with conditions approximate to those of the natural state. This explains Rousseau’s appreciation of peasant life with its festivities as the starting point of Emile’s education. Nevertheless, Emile will finish his education in the midst of social turmoil, and it will include taking advantage of spectacles. (shrink)

This text aims to perform a “fly over” the Philosophy for Children program--created by the philosopher and educator Matthew Lipman-–in order to identify certain philosophical problems that might appear there, one of them being the issue of universality. In response to Lipman’s claims of universality, we try to uncover his underlying ideological position that informs his approach to the concept. To achieve that goal, we return to the program’s beginnings, in order to ask how the idea of Philosophy for Children (...) appeared and how it has developed up to the present moment. We argue that Lipman’s novel proposal to think philosophically with children emerged, in part, as a response to the student movements of 1968--a response, that is, to a specific political context that was marked by strong social and ideological disputes. Finally, we make a comparative analysis of the social and political context that informs Latin American Philosophy, and the extent to which it, also, has been shaped by a pragmatic response to a particular historical moment. The difference between the Anglo-American and the Latin American contexts is here characterized as an obstacle to a certain “universal” logos to which the Lipmanian project is linked. Our analysis is aided by the Discourse of marginalization and barbarism, produced by the Mexican philosopher Leopoldo Zea. (shrink)

The main objective of this paper – resulting from an academic speech at UFG (Universidade Federal de Goiás) -is to outline the importance of Thomas Hobbes’ most known political work: Leviathan. Taking the figure of a big marine monster, quite in the same sense of the biblical metaphor used in the dialogue between God and Job to introduce the danger or the benefit of a big power controlled by men, Hobbes’s arguments terrorized the Church but helped in creating new ways (...) of thinking so to conceive the modern state. In the same movement, many other “demons” emerged to fight against religious power and also other forms of totalitarianism. Nevertheless, even shocking our conventional assumptions, Hobbes’ political work may be considered – among other liberal thinkers – a defense of individualism and many other aspects of civil order, which make him one of the most important contributor to modernity and also an essential source to think about our reality. Para tanto, vamos nos apoiar nas reflexões dos comentários de Martine de Gaudemar e de Robert Adams em seus livros. Pretendemos mostrar que um possível é algo que não possui uma força própria, apesar de todo possível exigir existir, essa força não passa da própria força da divindade, não existe alteridade antes da criação. Já um existente possui uma força e uma autonomia própria.

Os tratados escolhidos apresentam importantes conceitos e preceitos desenvolvidos há mais de dois milênios e que, até hoje, estão presentes na prática médica ocidental. O leitor encontra textos sobre a importância da medicina hipocrática, tratados deontológicos, que estabeleceram os alicerces práticos da ética médica, e sobre o universo da prática médica antiga.

Background: Clinical and experimental findings have suggested that insomnia is associated with altered emotion processing, such as facial emotion recognition and impairments in executive functions. However, the results still appear non-consensual and have recently been presented by a few number of studies. Accordingly, the aim of the present study was to investigate whether patients with Insomnia disorder will present alterations in recognition of facial emotions and that such alterations will be related to Executive Functions and that Insomnia Disorder patients will (...) exhibit a lower Executive Functions performance when compared to normal controls individuals. Method: A total of 11 individuals diagnosed with insomnia disorder and 15 control participants took part in the present cross-sectional study. They completed questionnaires covering socio-demographic data, a sleep and mood evaluation, and a cognitive assessment. Moreover, they underwent a computerized Facial Emotional Recognition test, consisting of facial emotion labeling and facial emotion matching. Results: Individuals with insomnia presented a lower recognition of facial expressions of fear and sadness in comparison to control volunteers. Perceptual Organization Index was found to be statistically significant lower in the insomnia group compared to the control group. There was a statistically significant association between facial recognition emotional and cognitive processes of in executive functions performance, especially in processes related to the inhibitory control, planning capacity, problem solving and cognitive flexibility in insomnia group. Conclusions: Insomnia disorder impairs the facial emotion recognition of the fear and sadness. Insomniacs with impairment in the facial emotion recognition had impaired performance of executive functions. There is a negative impact on processes related to cognitive-emotional capacity than on processes related to social-emotional recognition. Este artigo propõe a adoção do método da análise de conceitos conforme apresentada por John Wilson, como metodologia pedagógica e principal conteúdo para a disciplina de filosofia no ensino médio.

In an unpublished note Reddy introduced an extended intuitionistic linear calculus, called LLMS (for Linear Logic Model of State), to model state manipulation via the notions of sequential composition and ‘regenerative values’. His calculus introduces the connective ‘before’ ▹ and an associated modality †, for the storage of objects sequentially reusable. Earlier and independently de Paiva introduced a (collection of) dialectica categorical models for (classical and intuitionistic) Linear Logic, the categories Dial2Set. These categories contain, apart from the structure needed (...) to model linear logic, an extra tensor product functor and an extra comonad structure corresponding to a modality related to the extra tensor product. It is surprising that these works arising from completely different motivations can be related in a meaningful way. In this article, following joint work with Corrêa and Haeusler, we first adapt Reddy's system LLMS providing a commutative version of the connective ‘before’ and its associated modality and then construct a dialectica category on Sets , which we show is a sound model for the modified version of Reddy's the system LLMSc. Moreover, following the work of Tucker, we provide another variant of the Dialectica categories with a non-commutative tensor and its associated modality, which models soundlyLLMS itself. Este trabalho propõe analisar a presença da religião em alguns espaços públicos educacionais. Por meio da metodologia da observação participante identificamos dois momentos que se articulam entre si: a influência da Escola sem Partido ao longo dos estágios docentes do curso de Ciências Sociais Licenciatura em Campos dos Goytacazes; e a presença de movimentos missionário cristãos, originários dos EUA, que visam influenciar a juventude estudantil evangélica a uma transformação social, nacional e mundial, no espaço universitário. Tais descrições nos traz questionamentos (...) sobre os desafios e perspectivas da formação docente nos voltando, novamente, para a discussão entre ciência, religião e política. Sendo assim, o presente trabalho nos traz muitas interrogações sobre algumas questões que perpassam a questão religiosa e são pertinentes ao debate educacional. Diante da organização e expressões de fé demarcados por discursos e ações de estudantes visamos trazer breves reflexões sobre o ensino de Sociologia no cotidiano escolar e despertar atenção para a presença de movimentos religiosos no espaço universitário. In this paper we give a brief treatment of a theory of proofs for a system of Full Intuitionistic Linear Logic. This system is distinct from Classical Linear Logic, but unlike the standard Intuitionistic Linear Logic of Girard and Lafont includes the multiplicative disjunction par. This connective does have an entirely natural interpretation in a variety of categorical models of Intuitionistic Linear Logic. The main proof-theoretic problem arises from the observation of Schellinx that cut elimination fails outright for an intuitive (...) formulation of Full Intuitionistic Linear Logic; the nub of the problem is the interaction between par and linear implication. We present here a term assignment system which gives an interpretation of proofs as some kind of non-deterministic function. In this way we find a system which does enjoy cut elimination. The system is a direct result of an analysis of the categorical semantics, though we make an effort to present the system as if it were purely a proof-theoretic construction. (shrink)

In this paper we consider an intuitionistic variant of the modal logic S4 (which we call IS4). The novelty of this paper is that we place particular importance on the natural deduction formulation of IS4— our formulation has several important metatheoretic properties. In addition, we study models of IS4— not in the framework of Kirpke semantics, but in the more general framework of category theory. This thesis describes two classes of Dialectica categories. Chapter one introduces dialectica categories based on Goedel's Dialectica interpretation and shows that they constitute a model of Girard's Intuitionistic Linear Logic. Chapter two shows that, with extra assumptions, we can provide a comonad that interprets Girard's !-course modality. Chapter three presents the second class of Dialectica categories, a simplification suggested by Girard, that models (classical) Linear Logic and chapter four shows how to provide modalities ! and ? for this second class (...) of construction. A common misconception among logicians is to think that intuitionism is necessarily tied-up with single conclusion calculi. Single conclusion calculi can be used to model intuitionism and they are convenient, but by no means are they necessary. This has been shown by such influential textbook authors as Kleene, Takeuti and Dummett, to cite only three. If single conclusions are not necessary, how do we guarantee that only intuitionistic derivations are allowed? Traditionally one insists on restrictions on particular rules: implication right, (...) negation right and universal quantification right are required to be single conclusion rules. In this note we show that instead of a cardinality restriction such as one-conclusion-only, we can use a notion of dependency between formulae to enforce the constructive character of derivations. The system we obtain, called FIL for full intuitionistic logic, satisfies basic properties such as soundness, completeness and cut elimination. We present two motivating applications of FIL and discuss some future work. (shrink)

Hybrid logics are a principled generalization of both modal logics and description logics, a standard formalism for knowledge representation. In this paper we give the first constructive version of hybrid logic, thereby showing that it is possible to hybridize constructive modal logics. Alternative systems are discussed, but we fix on a reasonable and well-motivated version of intuitionistic hybrid logic and prove essential proof-theoretical results for a natural deduction formulation of it. Our natural deduction system is also extended with additional inference (...) rules corresponding to conditions on the accessibility relations expressed by so-called geometric theories. Thus, we give natural deduction systems in a uniform way for a wide class of constructive hybrid logics. This shows that constructive hybrid logics are a viable enterprise and opens up the way for future applications. (shrink)

In conjunction with machine learning and statistical techniques, deeper and more sophisticated models of language and speech are needed to make significant progress in both existing and newly emerging areas of computational language analysis. The vast quantity of electronically accessible natural language data (text and speech, annotated and unannotated, formal and informal) provides unprecedented opportunities for data-intensive analysis of linguistic (...) phenomena, which can in turn enrich computational methods. The first aim of this note is to describe an algebraic structure, more primitive than lattices and quantales, which corresponds to the intuitionistic flavour of Linear Logic we prefer. This part of the note is a total trivialisation of ideas from category theory and we play with a toy-structure a not distant cousin of a toy-language. The second goal of the note is to show a generic categorical construction, which builds models for Linear Logic, similar to categorical models GC of (...) [deP1990], but more general. The λσ-calculus adds explicit substitutions to the λ-calculus so as to provide a theoretical framework within which the implementation of functional programming languages can be studied. This paper generalises the λσ-calculus to provide a linear calculus of explicit substitutions, called xDILL, which analogously describes the implementation of linear functional programming languages.Our main observation is that there are non-trivial interactions between linearity and explicit substitutions and that xDILL is therefore best understood as a synthesis of its underlying logical structure and the (...) technology of explicit substitutions. Within New Testament writings, but in a special way in Paul’s letters, we can observe a significant presence of the greek term parresía, or frank language. This term was not only a rhetorical-linguistic instrument, on Paul’s contemporary time, but an attitude made by the speaker, or by the epistolar author before his recipients. On Eph 6,19, we see this term and its relation with the evangelizing mission of the author. Este artigo discute as transformações na indústria fonográfica desde os anos 90 provocadas pelo formato mp3, que, em uma primeira abordagem, é apontado como responsável pelo encolhimento da venda de discos e por promover a pirataria fonográfica em escala mundial. Neste recorte, conceitos como autoria, direito autoral e outros tem de ser repensados à luz desta tecnologia ao mesmo tempo em que se discute seu potencial criativo e sua capacidade de democratizar a produção sonora.

We consider two systems of constructive modal logic which are computationally motivated. Their modalities admit several computational interpretations and are used to capture intensional features such as notions of computation, constraints, concurrency, etc. Both systems have so far been studied mainly from type-theoretic and category-theoretic perspectives, but Kripke models for similar systems were studied independently. Here we bring these threads together and prove duality results which show how to relate Kripke models to algebraic models and these in turn to the (...) appropriate categorical models for these logics. A etnia Tabajara da Paraíba está passando por um processo de etnogênese e luta para a sua autoafirmação e reconhecimento como povo indígena, bem como lutam pela retomada das suas terras que foram retiradas pelo processo de colonização e devido a ambição dos grandes proprietários de terras. Nesse processo, surge a profecia Tabajara, que traz um avivamento da sua espiritualidade, cultura e ritualística, reagrupando assim, um povo que estava espalhado e afastado das suas origens. O ritual do Toré ganha grande (...) importância, tornando-se imprescindível para os indígenas. O presente trabalho tem como base os autores Eliane Farias e Lusival Barcellos, pesquisadores das etnias indígenas paraibanas. Como objetivo da pesquisa, foi realizada uma breve análise da ritualística Tabajara, entre ela, o ritual do Toré, tendo como base a pesquisa bibliográfica. (shrink)

O presente trabalho tem o propósito de apresentar alguns desenvolvimentos teóricos e metodológicos operados na formulação do projeto intelectual de Michel Foucault denominado História do Pensamento. Perfazemos em linhas gerais os deslocamentos operados por Foucault para estabelecer uma determinação recíproca entre experiência e pensamento.

A história do pensamento ocidental, desde seus primórdios na Grécia Antiga até os tempos atuais, é transpassada pela questão de Deus, que mantém a sua relevância mesmo no contexto pós-metafísico no qual estamos inseridos. A busca pelo significado derradeiro da existência humana justapõe a questão do homem à questão de Deus, que adquire, dessa forma, um status imperativo. Mas, como articular o discurso sobre Deus na atual conjuntura, caracterizada por uma visão materialista e imediatista da existência humana? Em nossa reflexão, (...) buscamos analisar as perspectivas da linguagem em relação à abordagem de Deus. Verificamos a impossibilidade da utilização de uma linguagem determinativa, com pretensões de definições últimas, no discurso sobre o Absoluto, visto que a experiência de Deus suscita múltiplas representações, sendo todas elas visões parciais de uma realidade inacessível ao cálculo racional. Diante disso, buscamos percorrer a via delineada por Emmanuel Levinas, que não se apressa em nomear o Infinito, mas aborda sua significação a partir da trama ética. Consideramos esperançosa tal abordagem, frente aos desafios que se apresentam nos tempos contemporâneos. Palavras-chave : Deus; cálculo racional; ética; Levinas.The history of western thought, since its beginning in ancient Greece up to now, is surrounded by God, who has kept his relevance even in the post - metaphysical context in which we are in. The ultimate search for the real meaning of human existence juxtaposes mankind and God, therefore it acquires an imperative status. However, how does one formulate the speech about God nowadays, when there is a materialistic view of human existence? In this reflection, we intend to analyze the perspectives of language in relation to God. It is identified the impossibility of use of certainty in language, claiming correct definitions in the speech about The Absolute, once that the experience of God raises multiple interpretations, and all of them are partial views of an inaccessible reality to the rationale. Therefore, we tend to follow Emmanuel Levinas’ line of thought which is not in a hurry to name the Infinity, but deals with its meaning through ethics. Teodemocracia é a forma de governo apresentada pelo Alvissarismo no segundo selo do quarto tomo de Alvíssara, onde a soberania legislativa deriva do povo e é exercida por ele, através da criação, veto e sanção das leis que regem a sociedade realizadas por via de plebiscitos, telefonia e pela internet. A teodemocracia não se confunde com a teocracia, na medida em que na teocracia o Estado é regido pela religião ou por um sectário religioso, enquanto que na teodemocracia o Estado (...) é absolutamente laico e não está ligado a nenhuma religião nem a nenhum sectário religioso. A teodemocracia é a perfeição absoluta da democracia, na medida em que faz do povo o representante legislativo direto de Deus. Na teodemocracia a voz do povo é a voz de Deus. Como podemos ver o sistema político teodemocrático proposto pelo Alvissarismo não tem nada a ver com um governo legado por um sectário religioso, mas sim com um governo legado pelo poder do povo como representante legislativo da vontade de Deus. A teodemocracia é o instrumento do fim da corrupção política, assim como o do fim da desigualdade social, na medida em que o povo tem o poder de criar, vetar e sancionar as Leis de um país, de um Estado e de um município, o povo tem o poder de fazer valer a sua vontade, assim como a sua necessidade. Só a teodemocracia tem o poder de estruturar uma distribuição de renda moralmente justa, na medida em que com ela o povo poderá comandar essa distribuição através do seu poder de veto das Leis propostas. Seu objetivo final é o de servir de introdução a leigos e iniciantes ao estudo sistemático da Doutrina Alvissarista.

A Ciência não tem a explicação para tudo, o seu raciocínio lógico não consegue abarcar a totalidade das coisas, dos fatos e dos significantes. Em verdade, a parte das coisas, dos fatos e dos significantes que a Ciência tem acesso é apenas a ponta do iceberg. A parte submersa é então a Insciência, isto é, o conjunto de coisas, fatos e significantes aos quais a Ciência não tem acesso por estarem além dos limites da origem do Logos. Nisto consiste a (...) descoberta epistemológica do Alvissarismo que revela a existência da Insciência, que é um termo epistemológico com dois significados distintos. Em um sentido amplo, mais genérico, é o conjunto do conhecimento cujo qual a Ciência não tem acesso. O segundo significado, mais específico, provém da Filosofia Alvissarista e designa uma forma específica de como esse conjunto de conhecimentos cujo qual a Ciência não tem acesso funciona e pode ser acessado. A Insciência define um complexo de coisas, fatos e significantes de natureza praticamente insondável, misteriosa, obscura, como a origem do universo, do homem, das paixões, do medo, da criatividade, da vida e da morte, que só podem ser acessados através de analogias e paradoxos lógicos na linguagem; através do mito, do rito, da ficção, da arte, do sonho e da hierofania. Ao dirigir-se à Ciência, a Insciência demanda que ela produza saber e depois tenta invalidar suas teorias. (shrink)

A grande revolução filosófica arquitetada pelo Alvissarismo está justamente na descoberta fundamental dos juízos analíticos a posteriori; desde Kant, não houve sequer um único filósofo com coragem o bastante para questionar a ideia de que todo juízo de experiência é sintético e que todo juízo analítico é a priori, com exceção de Saul Kripke, que foi pioneiro ao revelar ao mundo a existência do necessário a posteriori e do contingente a priori, corroborando a nossa tese sobre a existência dos juízos (...) analíticos a posteriori; esta foi, pois, a grande ruptura causada pela Filosofia Alvissarista, que, através da pergunta “existem juízos analíticos a posteriori?” causou uma revolução sem precedentes na história da filosofia. O mais importante aqui não é nem a resposta dada pelo Alvissarismo a esta pergunta, mas sim a própria pergunta, posto que ela rompe de uma vez por todas com a filosofia Kantiana, que fundou as bases da filosofia moderna através da negação da revelação. O Alvissarismo dá, portanto, início a uma nova era na história da filosofia, uma era onde na filosofia é possível a revelação, onde é possível existir uma filosofia unificada à mitologia e à religião, como um retorno à filosofia pré-talesiana, isto é, uma filosofia antes do surgimento de Tales de Mileto, que separou a filosofia da religião através da proposição “a água é a origem de todas as coisas”. O princípio regulador da prática moral do Alvissarismo é o método do meio-termo, que pode se estruturar em todos os formatos da existência humana: A prática moral e existencial de não extremismo: um caminho de moderação, equilíbrio e harmonia entre os opostos. O meio-termo entre as visões filosóficas, políticas, econômicas e religiosas; ou seja, entre a Esquerda e a Direita, o Alvissarismo representa o Caminho do Meio. Uma explicação da Angelitude ; um estado onde fica óbvio que todas as dualidades (...) aparentes no mundo são ilusórias. A prática da instrução canônica, da fé em Jesus Cristo e da obra de amor, justiça e caridade. O objetivo do ser humano é enfrentar a existência tal como ela se apresenta, buscando se regenerar moralmente através da troca dos vícios por virtudes assim como da troca dos débitos por créditos com a finalidade de promover a sua libertação do ciclo cármico da Roda das Encarnações a fim de atingir a angelitude e se tornar um mensageiro direto de Deus.
